Laudato Si' Project

MEET JOE MEYER!

Joe Meyer has always had a passion for his Catholic faith and a love for ecology. As a result of these passions and his desire to teach, he graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a Bachelor's degree in biology/environmental science education and later a Masters in Education from UW-La Crosse. He taught in National Parks and environmental education centers across the country and strives to connect people with the natural world around them. As a result of his deep Catholic faith, he has also been very active in youth ministries, parish catechism classes, and mission trips.

Joe has a long-time interest in Church teaching especially as it relates to care for the environment. After Laudato Si' was published by Pope Francis, he decided to create Laudato Si' Project to better connect people with their faith and to foster a stewardship ethic to care for it. Through the lens of our faith, Laudato Si' Project utilizes education, stewardship, and recreation to "restore our natural connection."

Through his work at Laudato Si' Project, Joe has spread this message of hope to dozens of schools and parishes in Southeast Wisconsin. He currently teaches science at Marquette University High School, a premier college preparatory school in Milwaukee, WI.
